Kress

Unlike traditional brands that are adding cordless models to their core fossil fuel OPE ranges prompted by a growing environmental consciousness, Kress has been manufacturing electric motors exclusively for almost a century. An icon of German engineering, it stood side by side with generations of professional users who have trusted its tools for their dependability.

The story started in 1928 when Christian Kress founded a workshop for car electronics. Right after its inception, Kress started designing and manufacturing DC and AC electric motors. In the beginning of the sixties, Kress decided to expand its production to a wider range of items. A new factory was put into operation in Bisingen, Germany, and manufacturing of stationary workshop machines began in 1964. In 1969, Kress launched a comprehensive professional range of portable power tools.

In 1979 a new R&D center was established in Wattwil, Switzerland. The range was further expanded with a specific focus on cordless tools. Distribution was also enhanced to cover 60 countries through a network of specialized dealers.

2017 was a pivotal year in the history of the Kress brand, as it joined the international Positec group. Thanks to an injection of fresh capital and enhanced R&D capabilities, Kress went all-in into the development of cordless outdoor power equipment for commercial landscapers and demanding homeowners.

Now it’s time for one more step: the end of dependence on fossil fuels.

2023 is the last major milestone in the almost century-long history of the brand. Kress is in fact launching the 8-minute CyberSystem, a next-gen battery system that boasts the world’s fastest-charging times.
